11/26/16 – Re-Test with 92G Brigadier Tactical

Back on June 12th of this year I established a baseline of my skill level with my Beretta 92G Brigadier Tactical, post of this viewable here.  I called this ‘The Test’ which was basically just a rebranding of Gunsite’s Cooper Cup.  They’re pretty tall standards to measure up to and not something that the average recreational shooter can knock out.  A refresher on the specifics:

The Test:
3 yards, one shot to the head, in 1 second
7 yards, one shot to the head, in 1.5 seconds
10 yards, two shots to the body, in 2 seconds
15 yards, two targets, two shots on target 1, reload, two shots on target 2, to the body, in 6 seconds
25 yards, two shots to the body, in 4 seconds

Fresh off AIT I haven’t shot in just shy of a week and thought this would be a great time to reassess my skill level.  As always I showed up to the range cold with no dry-fire or draw practice that day.  Here were the results:

Results-
3 yards
String 1: 1.62 / A-Hit / .62 over
String 2: 1.53 / A-Hit / .53 over
(I really need to practice my draw and dry-fire.)

7 yards
String 1: 1.76 / A-Hit / .26 over
String 2: 1.84 / A-Hit / .34 over
(Same as drill one, just need a little practice.)

10 yards
String 1: 2.84 / 2 A-Hits / .84 over
String 2: 2.33 / 2 A-Hits / .33 over
(And again…)

15 yards
String 1: 6.74 / 1 C-Hit 1 A-Hit / .74 over
String 2: 7.01  / 2 A-Hits / 1.01 over
2nd Target: 3 A-Hits 1 B-Hit

25 yards
String 1: 3.15 / 2 A-Hits / .85 under
String 2: 3.35 / 1 B-Hit 1-A Hit / .75 under

In shooting hits are what it’s all about so those are my main points of comparison.  On June 12th I had:
7 A-Hits
7 B-Hits
3 C-Hits
3 Misses

Today I had:
17 A-Hits
2 B-Hits
1 C-Hit
0 Misses

Today’s total time: 32.17
Par time: 25.00
1st Test total time: 26.56

Now that’s more like it!  I had 3 errant shots and most of my times were over par so I may not be the fastest gun in the west but I will get my hits.
